Demilade Obayomi

Demi Obayomi is a recent graduate of the Johns Hopkins University where he majored in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management. Demi has pursued his interest in entrepreneurship and finance by starting his own company, serving as an Executive on JHU’s Marshal Salant Investment Team and through internships at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and 500 Startups. Demi will be working at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking division starting July 2015. In 2012, Demi co-founded Jama Cocoa, a startup chocolate company on the Johns Hopkins campus. While building Jama Cocoa from an idea to a business he and his co-founders sought out the Philadelphia chapter of the Dorm Room Fund, a student-run venture fund that assists student-run businesses, to raise capital for our project. Their professionalism and genuine desire to help the Jama Cocoa team showed Demi that providing a network and the initial capital that allows students to chase their “dorm room” ideas will go a long way in empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs. Now that, the Jama Cocoa project has run its course, Demi has thought back to his experience with the Dorm Room Fund and realized that the Baltimore / DC community could benefit from a similar fund.
