Transforming ideas and innovations into sustainable technology businesses is the primary purpose of TechColumbus. Since 2003, companies in the TechColumbus incubation program have generated more than $87.4 million in revenue, created 265 new high-paying jobs, and attracted more than $50 million in private equity and another $14.7 million in grants. The TechColumbus Incubator helps emerging technology businesses to span the gap between research and development and commercialization, accelerating growth and shortening time to market. In 2006, TechColumbus was awarded a grant by Ohio's Third Frontier Program. This $22.5 million dollar program, which is called TechStart, provides coaching and mentoring services as well as funding programs to early-stage companies in Central Ohio. The program has already more than doubled the number of promising companies across the region. TechColumbus' SpringBox Labs accelerator, with 62,000 square feet of flexible and innovative office, lab, and manufacturing space, is home to up to 40 technology startups.
