Avista Capital Partners specializes in private equity investments primarily in growth oriented energy, healthcare, industrial, consumer, and media companies. In 2007, Avista closed its debut fund with $2 billion in capital commitments. In 2010, Avista closed its second fund in the amount $1.8 billion and is currently raising its third fund. Avista was formed in 2005 by seven former partners who worked together at DLJ Merchant Banking, and focuses on buyout opportunities in the energy, healthcare and media spaces. Avista makes controlling or influential minority investments of approximately $50 million to $300 million, and maintains an additional office in Houston and London. Avista makes controlling or influential minority investments, primarily in U.S.-based companies, in connection with various transaction structures, including leveraged buyouts, build-ups and growth financings.
