Tan Boon Heon is the Managing Director of UCB Pharma's South East Asia & Korea affiliate. Countries in his responsibility include those in ASEAN as well as Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
Boon Heon began his career in the Life Sciences industry with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), where he worked with senior decision makers of life science companies to attract and facilitate manufacturing, commercial operations and R&D projects in Singapore.
In 2000, Boon Heon moved to New Jersey joining Schering-Plough as a management associate. There, he held positions of increasing responsibility within the global marketing organization, managing products in the Oncology and Biotechnology team including TEMODAL for primary brain tumours, and REMICADE for autoimmune disorders. Subsequently, he returned to Asia as head of specialty care for the region, where he supervised several launches of new products and indications, and supported the expansion of Schering-Plough into new geographies including Korea, Vietnam and Pakistan.
Boon Heon was next appointed head of marketing for prescription products for China. Following the integration of Schering-Plough into MSD, he became regional general manager of the Shanghai region, managing a team of nearly 500. Boon Heon was also Director of Customer Solutions briefly before leaving MSD.
After a short stint as an Executive Search Consultant, and prior to joining UCB Pharma, Boon Heon joined Biogen Idec as Managing Director for Greater China, Korea and Southeast Asia. During this time, he was responsible for preparing for the launch of Biogen Idec's Multiple Sclerosis and Hemophilia portfolio in this region.
Boon Heon is also a commissioned officer in the Singapore Armed Forces.
