Bonnie Cohen is a consultant specializing in management and financial issues.
Ms. Cohen serves on the Board of Cohen and Steers Mutual Funds (no relation), a $25 billion dollar family of mutual funds.
She is Vice President of the District of Columbia Library Board of Trustees and President of the Board of the District of Columbia Public Library Foundation.
Ms. Cohen is also a Board Member and Treasurer of Mountainfilm in Telluride.
From 1996-2000, Ms. Cohen served as Undersecretary of State for Management, the Chief Operating Officer for the Department of State. Ms. Cohen was responsible for the staff, resources, facilities, technology and security of the Department and was Secretary Albright’s principal advisor on management issues. From 1992-1996 Ms. Cohen was Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Management and Budget under Secretary Bruce Babbitt. At Interior, Ms. Cohen oversaw the resources of the Department and was involved in conservation issues, including the Everglades restoration.
Immediately prior to her government service, Ms. Cohen was Senior Vice President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Previously, Ms. Cohen was Treasurer of the United Mine Workers of America Pension Funds, Investment Chair of the Washington DC Retirement Funds (pension funds for DC teachers, firemen, policemen and judges) and investment consultant to the Stanford University Endowment. She was a founder of the Council of Institutional Investors.
She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Smith College. She is a long time resident of Washington, DC where her four grandchildren also live.
