Barrett is passionate about the power of technology to overcome borders, cultures and governments in order to empower the billions to improve their own lives.
With this passion, he and his partners built GWC, a business with the mission of building connections and trust among mobile industry leaders and innovators around the world in order to make business easier and improve the world through innovation. To that end, Barrett has become a key connecting point and trusted partner in the mobile industry, having supported great companies like Google, Rovio, Tencent, Evernote, Sina and Facebook in their international growth ambitions.
He and his partners also started GMIC in Beijing and within only 4 years, grew it into the largest mobile conference in Asia with 12,800 attendees from 32 countries. In 2012, they launched the Silicon Valley edition of GMIC and drew 5800 people from over 60 countries in the inaugural year.
Barrett graduated from the MIT Sloan and Tsinghua University International MBA program in Beijing. Barrett has been mentioned on Techcrunch, ReadWriteWeb, Appleinsider and China Daily and is a regular speaker at tech events.
When Barrett isn’t working, he and his adventurous wife find time to study Chinese, rock climb, travel the world, and get lost in fascinating places.
