Unum Group Pension Plan is a single-employer non-contributory defined benefit corporate pension based in Portland, Maine. Established in 1946, the plan covers domestic employees of the company who were eligible to participate prior to freezing the plan effective December 31, 2013. It provides benefits to the employees of Unum Group, a Fortune 500 insurance company formerly known as UnumProvident. Unum Group is the plan sponsor and Bank of New York Mellon serves as the trustee of the plan. The Pension Benefits Finance Committee Committee serves as a fiduciary of the Plan and is responsible for reviewing the Plan's financial, investment, and asset custody policies, as well as overseeing the Plans service matters.
