QCA First Funds is a family of small venture capital investment funds that is managed by Queen City Angels, with support from the Tri-State Growth Capital Fund and others. The Fund's objectives include the creation of new jobs in Ohio, the commercialization of technology, and the return of above-average profits to the state of Ohio and other investors. Portfolio companies must have their primary place of business in Ohio, or intend to move to Ohio upon funding. Investments are primarily focused in advanced materials related to advanced polymers, ceramics, composites, carbon fibers and nanotubes and specialty metals and alloys; aero propulsion power management; fuel cells and energy storage; medical technology; software applications for business and healthcare; sensing and automation technologies; situational awareness and surveillance systems; and solar photovoltaics. Typically, QCA First Fund provides the first investment of capital outside of the founder and his/her "friends and family."
