Making Entrepreneurs: Startup Accelerator, or MESA for short, is a startup incubator that brings skills present in aspiring entrepreneurs to a single location with the goal of focusing these skills to advance the business ventures of its members. Similar to other startup accelerators such as TechStars or Y Combinator, MESA emphasizes the importance of innovation in the projects of its members. However, MESA uniquely incorporates the concept of crowdsourcing into its program through its Pitch & Build format. This format encourages the participation of a significantly larger audience, as it gives even an individual who has only an idea and the courage to show it to others the opportunity to actively build a team that is dedicated, skilled, and innovative. That team is then able to help build the business from the ground up, developing everything from basic corporate infrastructure to strategic market launches. This helps give companies the tools to succeed which are often lost in a highly competitive environment. Meanwhile, all members of MESA, whether they plan on developing their own business or not are given the opportunity to gain valuable project management experience, become acquainted with other aspiring business professionals, develop skills that can be utilized across a variety of industries, and most importantly have fun while doing so.
