DVS is led by CEO Keith Thompson, MD, an internationally recognized refractive surgeon, ophthalmologist and VC-backed serial entrepreneur who helped introduce laser eye surgery technology in the US market.
Dr. Thompson envisioned a new technology platform for improving the quality and performance of eyesight-correcting methods and he led technologists from Harvard, MIT, and Georgia Tech in developing the VisionOptimizer system.
In 2004, Dr. Thompson founded DigitalVision Systems and in 2009 began allocating the majority of his time to DVS to manage the development of the DVO for commercial production.
Prior to founding DVS in 2004, he founded and led a successful startup laser vision correction center funded by Noro-Moseley Partners, an Atlanta-based venture capital firm.
From 1991-2004, Dr. Thompson served as a Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine. He has specific expertise in physiological optics and was a lead US Investigator in the development of excimer laser PRK and LASIK surgery that gained FDA approval in 1995.
Dr. Thompson completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M, his Doctorate in Medicine from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and his Ophthalmology Residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
