Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Trust (PRIT) is a public pension fund based in Boston, Massachusetts. Established in 1983, to accumulate assets through investment earnings to reduce the Commonwealth's unfunded pension liability, and to assist local participating retirement systems in meeting future pension obligations. The Massachusetts State Teachers', State Employees' and State-Boston/Teachers' Retirement Systems, and the State Retiree Benefits Fund(SRBTF) are mandated by statute to invest all of their assets in the PRIT Fund. Other retirement systems may voluntarily invest all or part of their assets in the PRIT Fund. The assets are managed by the board of Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management (PRIM).
