H&Q Asia Pacific (H&QAP) is a private equity firm investing in Asia and the United States since 1985. The firm invests in a variety of sectors such as technology, branded consumer products, and financial services and makes both later-stage control investments and earlier-stage venture capital investments. H&QAP was founded in 1985 by Dr. Ta-lin Hsu as a division of Hambrecht & Quist, the U.S. technology investment bank founded in 1962 (now a part of JPMorgan). In 1996, the firm spun off its operations from Hambrecht & Quist and became a separate entity known as H&Q Asia Pacific. H&QAP manages an aggregate of over $2.7 billion in committed capital through 23 funds and has invested in over 400 companies.
