The Center for Technology Commercialization (CTC) manages innovation commercialization for the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation. The CTC, in collaboration with commercial partners, focuses on bringing new discoveries for improved health to the pediatric patient population. The CTC is responsible for (1) the identification and commercial assessment of discoveries; (2) the protection, primarily via patenting, of intellectual property; and (3) the commercialization of technologies through licensing partnerships and the formation of start-up companies. The CTC promotes and facilitates the clinical and commercial use of these discoveries of Cincinnati Children's, which result in additional revenues to support future research. CTC staff work closely with and encourages investigators at Cincinnati Children's to submit invention disclosures on promising new technologies for eventual commercial utility. The CTC consults with faculty and staff on topics related to industry relations, commercial development of inventions, patenting and patent strategy, licensing, and all other issues involving intellectual property and venture development.
