Karl Abbott

As the Senior Vice President for Global Wholesale & Wealth Technology at Scotiabank, he is responsible for the technology that supports our customers in Global Banking and Markets, Global Transaction Banking and Global Wealth Management. This includes systems and infrastructure for trading floors in Toronto, London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai and Corporate and Investment Banking offices throughout the US and Canada. Prior to this role, he was the Vice President, Equities in the Technology Application Group from 2009 to 2013. Karl was responsible for the delivery of technology in support of the Global Equities business line in Global Banking and Markets. The role included support for Institutional Equities Sales and Trading, Global Prime Services, Global Equity Derivatives and Equity Research in Canada, the US and UK, as well as Latin America and Asia. Mr. Abbott has worked in financial technology for a number of years prior to joining Scotiabank, including positions in consulting, venture capital and as an entrepreneur. He has a BBA and MBA from York University.
