The Fremont Area Community Foundation serves the Newaygo County, Michigan area. The Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the nation on a per capita basis, serving a population of 50,000 and with 2007 year end net assets of $218 million. In 2007, the Foundation made grants of $10.6 million to benefit the Newaygo County area.2007 marked the Foundation"s 35th anniversary as a community foundation; however, its roots go back to the early 1930"s when a few visionary philanthropists created funds to benefit their community. These funds were incorporated in 1951 forming the private Fremont Foundation. 22 years later, the Foundation was reorganized into its current structure as a public community foundation.All of the Foundations investment decisions are made in conjunction with their consultants at the Fund Evaluation Group (FEG). FEG handles all of their manager sourcing and due diligence responsibilities, and only once a fund has passed through the processes at FEG is it presented to the Foundation.��
