Bertrand Girin

A graduate of the Ecole Centrale de Paris (class of 1992) after attending preparatory classes for a ‘Grande Ecole’ from 1988 to 1989, also holder of a MBA from the Collège des Ingénieurs in Paris, Bertrand Girin has built his savoir-faire and expertise around innovation, finance, the foundation of companies, and most recently online reputation. A speaker of Chinese, he got his first job in Shanghai in August 1993 as junior head of acquisitions for the Air Liquide Group. A Multinational French Group present in China, the company is one of the world leaders in gas and technologies and services for industry and health. It is actually in the medical area that Bertrand Girin made his biggest mark by helping to bring Floxal on to the pharmaceutical market, which is an innovative ophthalmologic treatment developed by the Air Liquide Group. Bertrand was named head of Asian operations for the Group in 1995. He became the Global Director for the same Group in 1997 and created sales of €150 Million during his two years in the job. In 1999, Bertrand Girin launched his idea for the creation of a €40 Million venture capital fund and offers it to Air Liquide. Air Liquide Ventures is born, for which he takes on the role of Managing Partner and through which Bertrand finances innovative companies in numerous European countries, notably in France, Sweden, Holland and Belgium. During the period and up to 2004, Mr Girin has the opportunity to sit on the Board of Directors for several companies, such as Capsule Technologies, Asterop, Clair AB and Terra Nova Energy. In 2005, Bertrand Girin turns his hand to giving advice for fundraising between Europe and China and sets up the consulting firm Alwaystry, and his skills in venture capital on a European level and his past experience in Shanghai perfectly meet the needs of his entrepreneur clients. At the same time as all of this, Bertrand invents a completely new treatment for frequent canker sores called AftaZen and in 2010 co-founds the PreviZen laboratories, of which he remains President, to be able to market his new treatment. Aside from his status as an entrepreneur, inventor and financer, Bertrand Girin also gave lessons at CELSA on Online Reputation and taught Innovation Funding at the Ecole Centrale de Paris and the Executive MBA de l’ESSEC. In June 2011, with the help of 4 other associates, Bertrand Girin co-founded the company Reputation VIP, of which he is the President. Its goal is to look up, survey and secure your reputation on the internet, whether you are an individual, manager or company. 50% of the budget for Reputation VIP is dedicated to the Research and Development of new solutions and innovative technologies for its clients. Bertrand Girin also finds time to regularly take part in conferences on Online Reputation, Innovation and Enterprising, in English and French.
